SRAM’s New Era of 4 Piston Brakes, Are You Ready?

In 2025 SRAM added DB4, DB6 and Motive to its mineral oil brake range. These are not SRAM’s only four piston brakes: Maven is a separate system with its own larger pad shape.

Meet SRAM’s New Brake Family

🔧 SRAM DB4 & DB6

• DB6: MatchMaker compatible, tool based reach adjust
• DB4: Simplified setup, no MatchMaker integration

Both share a similar 4 piston caliper design and weigh just under 370g (rear, 1800mm hose). Designed for riders seeking straightforward power and easy upkeep.

🚵 SRAM Motive (Ultimate, Silver, Bronze)

• Motive Ultimate: Carbon lever, titanium bolts, top tier XC/trail performance
• Silver & Bronze: Premium modulation at a lighter weight (265 to 279g)

These use SRAM’s new mineral oil system and offer tool free reach adjust. Lightweight, race ready braking has arrived.

What This Means for Aftermarket Pads

Motive, DB4 and DB6 use SRAM’s Large pad family, also used by Code and DB8. A new brake launch does not necessarily introduce a new pad shape. Maven uses XL pads and is not interchangeable.

Gorilla pads for the shared Code, DB8, Motive, DB4 and DB6 fitment are available in several compounds. Check each current product listing for exact caliper compatibility and intended use.
