How To Identify Your Disc Brake Pads

Disc brake pads vary depending on the brake brand, caliper design and pad shape. The easiest way to identify the correct brake pads for your bike is to check the brake caliper model printed on the brake body or compare the shape of your existing pads.

Most hydraulic disc brakes use specific pad shapes that are shared across multiple models. For example, Shimano road and gravel brake systems commonly use K and L pad shapes, while Shimano mountain bike brakes use G and N pad shapes.

If you are unsure which brake pads your bike uses, remove the existing pads and compare the shape to the identification guides above. You can also search your brake model such as Shimano XT, SRAM Code or Magura MT7 to find compatible replacement brake pads.

All Gorilla Brakes disc brake pads are precision manufactured to match original pad shapes and are available in multiple compounds including sintered, semi-metallic and ceramic options depending on your riding style and braking performance needs.
