6-bolt rotor questions

How do I know if I need a 6-bolt rotor?

Look at the rotor attachment at the hub. A 6-bolt rotor is secured with six bolts around the hub flange. Center Lock uses a splined fitting and a lockring. Match the rotor mounting to your hub.

Can I replace a 200 mm rotor with a 203 mm rotor?

Not as a direct size-for-size replacement. Check the brake, frame and fork manufacturer’s approved rotor sizes and use the correct caliper adapter for the chosen diameter.

Can I fit a 2 mm rotor instead of a thinner one?

Only if your brake manufacturer approves that thickness for the exact brake model. A shared 6-bolt mounting does not confirm caliper clearance or pad compatibility. Check the selected rotor’s specifications before ordering.

Will every brake pad compound work with my rotor?

No. Check the rotor and brake manufacturer’s pad compatibility requirements. Some rotors are marked for resin pads only. Match both the pad compound and the approved pad contact shape to your rotor.
