Brake Pads for Shimano XT / SLX / XTR / Deore, 4-Piston

Browse Gorilla Brakes pads for Shimano four-piston calipers. Select your exact caliper model and pad shape before choosing a compound.

Check fitment and compatible models

This range includes several Shimano four-piston applications. Match the exact caliper code in the product listing; Shimano D, H, N and P references describe different backing and cooling-fin arrangements.

Shimano replacement-pad references vary by caliper:

  • BR-M6120, BR-MT420 and BR-MT520: Shimano specifies unfinned D-type replacement pads.
  • BR-M9120, BR-M8120 and BR-M7120: model-specific D, N and P options.
  • BR-M9220 and BR-M8220: P-type standard pads, with specified D and N alternatives.
  • Saint BR-M820 and ZEE BR-M640: Shimano lists D-type unfinned and H-type finned references; check the exact replacement code.
  • CUES BR-U8020: match the exact caliper and product listing; this is not a Metrea caliper.

Gorilla Brakes has confirmed that its Enduro Pro Ultimate Aluminium finned pad also physically fits BR-M6120, BR-MT420 and BR-MT520. This confirmation applies to that specific Gorilla design; it does not make Shimano H-, N- or P-type finned pads universal substitutes.

Confirmation of one Gorilla finned design does not establish clearance for every finned pad. Follow the fitment listed for the exact product and check the rotor’s permitted pad material.

Brake Pads for Shimano XT / SLX / XTR / Deore, 4-Piston FAQs

A little help with fitment, compounds and getting ready to ride.

What pad types do these calipers use?

Use the exact caliper code and the individual product. Shimano specifies unfinned D-type pads for BR-M6120, BR-MT420 and BR-MT520. Gorilla Brakes has separately confirmed that its Finned Aluminium pad design also fits those three calipers; this applies to that specific Gorilla product, not every finned pad or Shimano H/N option. For BR-M820, Shimano lists unfinned D02S/D03S and finned H03A/H03C; BR-M7120, BR-M8120 and BR-M9120 have their own D/N/P options. Check the rotor’s permitted pad material as well.

What type of brake pads do Shimano Saint brakes use?

Match the exact Saint caliper generation. Shimano lists unfinned D02S/D03S pads for BR-M810 and BR-M820. BR-M820 also has specified finned H03A/H03C options. Do not assume that an M820/H-type listing also confirms BR-M810 compatibility. Check the individual Gorilla Brakes product for your full caliper code and rotor requirements.

Which of the available compounds should I compare?

Enduro Pro Ultimate Orange focuses on braking performance and pad life for demanding descents and heavier loads. Enduro Pro Semi Metallic Blue combines versatile braking with heat management for trail riding, touring and long descents.

Which compounds are e-bike rated, and which do you recommend for heavy loads?

All Enduro Pro and Factory Racing compounds are e-bike rated. For heavy cargo, loaded touring and demanding descents, we recommend Enduro Pro Ultimate Orange or Enduro Pro Semi Metallic Blue in the correct fitment.

How should I prepare the rotor and bed in new pads?

Check the rotor’s condition, wear limit and permitted pad material. Follow the installation instructions for your caliper and our bedding-in guide, including rotor preparation when changing compounds.
