Gravity Brake Pad Guide: Maven, GUSTAV, HINE-R & More
Share
Powerful gravity brakes often use pad shapes that look similar but are not interchangeable. This guide separates five current names riders are searching for and shows which pad family to check before ordering. Always confirm the exact brake model, pad shape and retaining system against the pads removed from your caliper.

The Gorilla Brake Pad Finder maps SRAM Maven B1 to the Maven Extra Large pad family. The same collection covers the verified Maven variants listed in the Finder, giving riders a choice of Gorilla compounds for this shape. Confirm the model on the brake and compare the old pad before purchase.

MAGURA GUSTAV PRO

MAGURA specifies the MDP 13 pad family for GUSTAV PRO. MDP 13 is used by GUSTAV and CLARA four-piston brakes and is available in different compounds for different riding priorities. GUSTAV PRO must not be confused with the MT-family MDP 8 format.

MAGURA MDP 8+

MDP 8+ is a shim-equipped development of MAGURA's four-piece MDP 8 pad format. MAGURA lists it for specified four-piston MT, MT C and CMe brakes, plus LOUISE brakes from model year 2025. Model names and generations matter, so confirm the exact caliper before ordering; do not rely on “MT” alone.

Brembo GR-PRO

Gorilla Brakes has not yet verified an aftermarket Gorilla pad shape for GR-PRO. The Finder therefore does not claim a Gorilla replacement. Use genuine Brembo pads unless and until a compatible Gorilla shape has been physically measured, fitted and tested.

HINE-R

The Gorilla Brakes HINE-R brake project uses the established Shimano D-Type pad shape. This gives riders a clearly identifiable replacement format rather than a proprietary pad shape. Use D-Type as the fitment reference, then choose the Gorilla compound suited to your riding. Final production specifications and availability will be announced separately.
