The Ultimate Buyer’s Guide to SRAM Maven Brake Pads
SRAM Maven brakes use the Extra Large, or XL, pad family. Start by identifying the fitted caliper, then choose a compound for your riding, conditions and braking priorities.
Which Maven models use these pads?
The Gorilla Maven XL collection covers Maven Ultimate, Silver, Bronze and Base models using the Maven XL pad shape. SRAM Code, Guide and Level pads use other shapes and are not substitutes. Confirm the exact caliper model, pad shape and retention hardware before ordering.

The B1 update does not apply to every brake labelled A1. Base uses DirectLink and does not accept the SwingLink tuning kit. An original A1 SwingLink brake can also have an upgraded lever while retaining its original caliper. Check the fitted parts rather than identifying the entire system by lever colour alone.

Choose from the Maven options below. Each linked pad pack contains two pads and one spring for one compatible caliper. Check both brakes before ordering two packs for a complete bike.

For the current ratings and test explanations, use the Gorilla compound comparison and each product page. Results describe the tested samples, rotors and brake setups; they are not separate tests of every Maven variant or a guarantee of service life.
How long should Maven brake pads last?
There is no fixed mileage or ride count for a set of pads. Compound, mud and grit, rider and bike load, terrain, braking habits, rotor condition and caliper setup all affect wear. Large pads do not guarantee longer life. Check wear regularly and investigate unusually rapid or uneven wear instead of assuming every case has the same cause.

Fitting and bedding in
Follow the pad fitting guide, the brake manufacturer’s current instructions and our bedding in guide. Check rotor condition, thickness and permitted pad compounds before fitting. Keep oil and grease away from pads and braking surfaces.
Maven uses the specified Maxima Mineral Brake Oil. Do not use DOT fluid. Any bleed or piston service must follow SRAM’s current procedure with the correct tools.

Do Maven A1 and B1 use the same pad shape?
Yes. The Maven families listed above use the XL shape, including Base A1. Confirm the fitted caliper before ordering.
Which compounds should I consider for an e MTB?
Start with the Enduro Pro and Factory Racing ranges, then compare their current product guidance against your conditions and priorities. Pad choice does not change the frame, fork, rotor or brake system limits.
Can I use Maven pads in SRAM Code brakes?
No. Maven uses XL pads; Code uses a different pad family. Use the Gorilla Brake Pad Finder if the fitted caliper is uncertain.
