Workshop Notes — SRAM Level (2-Piston)

  • Most “pad noise” isn’t the pad: squeal is usually rotor contamination or pistons not retracting evenly — clean rotors and confirm both pistons move freely before fitting new pads.
  • Rubbing after a pad change: often caused by overfilled fluid or pistons not fully resetting. Push pistons back evenly and re-centre the caliper.
  • Long descents / heavier riders: Level is an XC/trail brake — choose higher heat-stability compounds to reduce fade and glazing on sustained braking.
  • Lever feel changes: a soft or inconsistent lever is usually bleed quality/air in the system, not the pads.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which SRAM Level brakes do these pads fit?
They fit SRAM Level 2-piston calipers including Level, Level T, Level TL and Level Ultimate.
Why are my SRAM Level brakes squealing?
Squeal is usually caused by rotor/pad contamination or pistons not retracting evenly. Clean the rotor, check piston movement and bed-in new pads properly.
What compound is best for wet UK riding on SRAM Level brakes?
For wet and gritty conditions, Sintered (Metallic) or Enduro Pro Semi-Metallic typically gives the most consistent bite and longest life.
