Suitable for e-road and e-gravel bikes

Enduro Pro Ultimate is an e-bike-rated compound. These pads can be used on e-road and e-gravel bikes with the compatible calipers listed here. Match your complete brake setup to your bike and total load.

Rotor compatibility

This compound is suitable for all bicycle disc brake rotor types, including rotors marked “resin pads only”.

Rotor diameter and thickness must still meet your brake manufacturer’s specifications. Check the rotor’s condition and minimum permitted thickness before fitting new pads.

Compound performance

Enduro Pro Ultimate

Our published compound testing shows strong braking output as rotor temperatures rise. Enduro Pro Ultimate also achieved the best wear resistance within the bench test group.

These findings describe the samples and setups tested. Actual performance and wear depend on your braking system and riding conditions.

About this test

The horizontal axis shows rotor temperature; the vertical axis shows caliper temperature. At the same rotor temperature, a lower curve means a cooler caliper in this test setup. Consider this alongside braking power, pad life and correct fitment when choosing pads for long descents or heavier loads.

Indicative test comparison. Results relate to the tested samples and setup.

Compare braking power across compounds

All eight curves use the Shimano XT RT86 rotor. Choose a compound to highlight its tested result.

Why some curves stop earlier

Each test run stopped when the measured caliper temperature reached 120°C, the stopping threshold used to protect the piston seals in this test setup. The horizontal axis shows rotor temperature. Sintered’s shorter curve means the caliper reached the limit at a lower rotor temperature.

About this test

This chart compares braking power for bedded-in pads, all tested with the Shimano XT RT86 rotor. The horizontal axis shows rotor temperature (°C); the vertical axis shows braking power (W). Each curve represents the compound and backing-plate configuration named in the selector. Compare curves within their plotted ranges; no result is shown beyond the end of a curve.

Two Enduro Pro Ultimate results are shown: the main comparison sample and the aluminium-backed sample. Both used the Shimano XT RT86 rotor. Compare each curve as its labelled backing-plate configuration.

Test context: All pads shown can be good choices for their intended use when correctly matched to the bike and rotor, installed and bedded in. A lower or shorter curve does not by itself make a pad a poor everyday choice. Real riding temperatures depend on the route, total load, braking technique and setup; this test does not establish a temperature limit for the average rider. Rotor choice can substantially affect braking power, but these results apply to the tested combinations. This comparison does not guarantee the same improvement on another bike or identify one best pad for every rider.

Your questions

About these brake pads

Fitment, materials and performance explained.

What is the advantage of an aluminium backing plate?

Aluminium offers lower weight and conducts heat quickly through the backing plate. The exposed fin increases surface area, helping release heat into the surrounding air and supporting rapid cooling. In our Enduro Pro Ultimate comparison, the steel-backed sample kept the caliper cooler than the aluminium-backed sample at comparable rotor temperatures. The graph compares caliper temperatures; it does not measure cooling time.

What is the purpose of the cooling fin?

The fin increases surface area, allowing heat to dissipate more effectively during long descents and heavy braking.

Are these suitable for gravel bikes?

Yes. These pads were specifically designed for gravel, endurance road, bikepacking and cyclocross applications.

Can I use these on an e-bike?

Yes. They are suitable for e-road and gravel e-bike systems using compatible Shimano calipers.

Do these last longer than standard pads?

Longevity depends on riding conditions, but improved heat management can help maintain consistent braking performance during demanding use.

Are these compatible with Shimano GRX brakes?

Yes. They fit GRX BR-RX400, BR-RX810, BR-RX820 and BR-RX820-LE calipers.

Are these noisy?

When the braking system is correctly maintained and aligned, the Enduro Pro Ultimate compound delivers quiet and consistent braking performance.even in high heat.

Are these suitable for alpine descents?

Yes. These pads were specifically developed for riders tackling long mountain descents where heat management is critical.
