Compound testing

Factory Racing Titanium: shared compound braking power

These pads use a titanium backing plate, offering less weight than the steel-backed STEALTH option. The ratings describe the shared friction-compound performance.

In the published HEL and Lewis rotor comparisons, steel and titanium samples showed closely grouped caliper-temperature behaviour. These results describe the tested setups and do not measure backing-plate cooling time.

The graph compares pad compounds and backing-plate configurations, all tested with the Shimano XT RT86 rotor.

Why some curves stop earlier

Each test run stopped when the measured caliper temperature reached 120°C, the stopping threshold used to protect the piston seals in this test setup. The horizontal axis shows rotor temperature. Sintered’s shorter curve means the caliper reached the limit at a lower rotor temperature.

This chart compares braking power for bedded-in pads, all tested with the Shimano XT RT86 rotor. The horizontal axis shows rotor temperature (°C); the vertical axis shows braking power (W). Each curve represents the compound and backing-plate configuration named in the selector. Compare curves within their plotted ranges; no result is shown beyond the end of a curve.

The Factory Racing Stealth Purple curve is used for Titanium because Gorilla Brakes confirms the same compound performance. Its highest plotted output in the Shimano XT RT86 rotor comparison was approximately 1,030 W. This is a shared compound result, not a separate titanium backing-plate test, a maximum power rating or a fitment test. Values are approximate reconstructions from the supplied graph.

Test context: All pads shown can be good choices for their intended use when correctly matched to the bike and rotor, installed and bedded in. A lower or shorter curve does not by itself make a pad a poor everyday choice. Real riding temperatures depend on the route, total load, braking technique and setup; this test does not establish a temperature limit for the average rider. Rotor choice can substantially affect braking power, but these results apply to the tested combinations. Bei unserem Factory Racing Stealth Belag kommt das Geräusch nicht vom Belag selbst es entsteht durch Vibrationen im Bremssystem. Bremsbeläge sind ein statisches Bauteil: Die Bremskraft wird vom hydraulischen System erzeugt, und der Belag steuert, wie diese Kraft auf die Bremsscheibe übertragen wird. Wenn im System eine kleine Unregelmäßigkeit vorhanden ist, kann das zu Resonanzen führen genau das ist das Geräusch, das Sie hören.

Auch wenn der Bremssattel ausgerichtet wurde, können häufige Ursachen sein: ungleichmäßig arbeitende Kolben, leichte Verunreinigungen auf der Bremsscheibe, eine ungleichmäßige Reibschicht (Transfer Layer) oder Luft im System. Der Stealth Belag ist darauf ausgelegt, leise zu laufen, zeigt aber wie alle leistungsstarken Beläge kleinste Setup-Abweichungen sehr deutlich.
